UKCC Level 2 Coach (Triathlon Scotland)

John is one of Britain's leading triathlon coaches. He has been involved in the sport for over 17 years and his background includes competing nationally for Scotland both as a Junior and Senior.  In the past 10 years his focus has moved from competition towards coaching though he remains active in all 3 disciplines.

Through work providing sports science support to a variety of sports at national and international level he became accredited as an Exercise Physiologist by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES).

His work experience as a triathlon coach includes:

  • Coach to Kirsty McWilliam May 2003-Oct 2008.
    • 2008 World Junior Champion.
    • 2008 European Silver Medalist.
    • 2007 European Bronze Medalist.
  • Coach to 3 World Age Group Champions.
  • Coach to several Commonwealth Games athletes.
  • Coach to many age group participants at European and World Champs.
  • Coach to Graeme Stewart April 2008 - Jan 2010 – Including then national Ironman Record – 8hrs 23 mins 43 secs Challenge Roth 2009.
  • Triathlonscotland National High Performance coach September 2005-July 2007.
  • Extensive experience of lactate testing, video analysis, power training.
  • Specialist in bespoke coaching packages to suit individual needs.
  • Links with high level service providers in other fields such as sports nutrition.

 

John Qualified as a level 2 Coach in May 2013

Stephanie Karvelis UKCC Level 2 Coach (Triathlon Scotland)

Stephanie (Steph) qualified as a level 2 Coach in January 2012.

Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement).

Level 2 Teacher of Aquatics – Scottish Swimming.

Trained and coached by Master Coach of Swimming in Australia.

Crawford White UKCC Level 2 Coach (Triathlon Scotland)

Crawford qualified as a level 2 Coach in January 2012, originally qualifiing as a level 1 coach in November 2010.

Crawford has been very heavily involved in working with the junior section.

Kay McWilliam UKCC Level 2 Coach (Triathlon Scotland)

Kay qualified as a level 2 coach in May 2013 having passed level 1 in November 2010.

Kay’s Triathlon successes include competing at Ironman distance. Whilst new to formal coaching she already possess’ a wealth of experience from organizing a running group.

Jenny MacDougal UKCC Level 2 Coach (Triathlon Scotland)

Jenny qualified as a level 2 coach in May 2013.

Jenny qualified as level 2 (Teaching Aquatics) in July 2011.

Pete Anderson UKCC Level 2 Coach (Triathlon Scotland)

Pete qualified as a level 2 coach in May 2013.

Pete qualified as level 1 (Teaching Aquatics) in July 2010.

Heather Allan UKCC Level 1 Coach (Triathlon Scotland)

Heather qualified as a level 1 coach in December 2011.
